As a Victim, You Have Rights.

The focus of the Crime Victim Specialist here at the MCPD is to connect with victims in order to make referrals to assist in applying for crime-related compensation, act as a liaison between the sworn officers and the community and refer individuals to existing community resources. They also can provide crisis intervention services, support, information, and advocacy for those impacted by a crime. If you need support, please contact 0ur specialist.

  Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) is a statewide automated information and notification system through which victims of crimes can use the telephone or Internet to search for the status of incarcerated offenders in all Iowa prisons and jail facilities.  Call 1-888-7-IAVINE or 1-888-742-8463 to speak to a trained operator regarding IowaVINE.

  If you or a loved one has suffered personal injury from a violent crime, the Crime Victim Compensation Program may be able to help.  The program helps victims with certain out-of-pocket expenses related to injuries from violent crime.
