General Policies

Non Resident Fee:
Anyone living outside the 50401 zip code will be charged a non resident fee of $5 per activity.

Refund Policy:
Full Credit may be given for cancellations BEFORE the registration deadline. After the deadline, NO refund will be issued, other than for medical reasons. If no registration deadline is mentioned, the registration deadline is considered one week prior to the starting date, for all refunds.  Refunds will be credited back to a credit/debit card if used for payment or a check can be issued if no credit/debit card was used or a credit can be issued to your account for future use.

Cancellations, Postponements & Changes:

All activities and programs are dependent upon weather conditions, facility availability, etc..  If the Recreation Dept does cancel, postpone or change programs it will be posted on our website-home page and face book page!  We will also send emails & text messages to participants if we have their approval.  To receive text messages please email the department your cell phone number, cell provider along with accounts to assign to (children).  Every attempt will be made to reschedule activities that are canceled.  However, no partial class or session refund given if weather does not allow rescheduling.

Youth Sports Scholarship Program:
Every child should have the opportunity to enjoy a recreational experience. A youth discount program is available to children who qualify. Eligible families must meet certification guidelines (Iowa Medicaid Programs).  The insurance card of the participant must be presented at time of registration.

Photo Policy:
Attendance at City of Mason City Parks and Recreation (MCPR) programs and events constitutes consent to be photographed for use in print and/or electronic publicity for MCPR.  To ensure the privacy of individuals and children, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written approval from the photographed subject, parent or legal guardian.  If you do not want us to use a photo of you or your child, please tell the MCPR staff member coordinating the event before the program or event.

COVID 19 Policy:
If a coach, player, parent, sibling (anyone) tests positive for COVID-19, that individual needs to isolate from attending or participating in any Parks & Recreation programs for 5 days. After 5 days that individual may return to programs as long as the individual is fever free for 24 hours without the use of a fever reducer, all symptoms are resolving and the individual that tested positive agrees to masking the isolation will be 10 days till able to attend/return.
If a participants/coach test positive for COVID-19 please notify the office of such and follow the COVID Policy above.
Participants/coaches do not have to notify other coaches, participants, parents or staff - just the office.
